The School of Health & Public Safety at SAIT Polytechnic is looking for experienced Diagnostic Medical Sonographers interested in a rewarding career in education. The School of Health & Public Safety has a need for energetic and resourceful individuals with great organizational skills to provide instruction in theory, laboratory, and practicum settings in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. The ideal candidates will have experience and/or certification in General, Echo, and Vascular imaging and be willing to travel. This is a 1.0 FTE permanent position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide a high quality of education for students
- Evaluate student progress through assignments, exams, lab competencies, and practicum competencies.
- Prepare and deliver lectures and lab demonstrations to students enrolled in both programs
- Support students and preceptors in the clinical setting
- Facilitate student achievement through mentorship
- Update course outlines and modules for theory and laboratory classes
- Contribute in a positive way to maintain a “team environment”
- Promote professionalism and coach students
- Provide feedback for continuous program improvement
- Participate in program and department meetings
- Promote and support SAIT Polytechnic’s and the School of Health and Public Safety mission statements and academic plans
- Remain current in field
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements top
The ideal applicant will be a registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with at least 3 years of recent clinical experience. The applicant must be registered with the ARDMS and CARDUP or be eligible for registration. The applicant must also possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and thrive in a team environment. Basic computer skills such as the ability to use word processing, Excel, PowerPoint, the internet and communication software is strongly recommended. Previous teaching experience is an asset as are additional educational qualifications. The applicants must have a somewhat flexible schedule to accommodate the student’s timetable and travel within and outside the province.
Successful candidates must provide proof of qualifications. Only education obtained from an accredited institution will be recognized.
