JOB TITLE: Cardiovascular Ultrasound Technician
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This position is located within the Chickasaw Nation Division of Health with the duty station at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center, Cardiology Department. The purpose of this position is to provide coverage for Cardiology procedures which include Echocardiograms, Carotid, Arterial and Venous Duplex Studies, and Bubble studies.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Incumbent is under the direct supervision of the Manager of the Cardiology Department

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: • Performs Cardiovascular Ultrasound studies according to the department Policy and procedure Guidelines and Universal Nomenclature Standards. These include but are not limited to Echocardiograms, Carotid duplex, Arterial duplex and Venous duplex scans, and Bubble studies. • Maintains daily procedure logs ensuring that documentation is accurate and timely. • Provides preliminary interpretive procedure technical reports on cardiovascular ultrasound studies for the providers at CNMC on a daily basis. • Aids in the scheduling of patients as needed. • Processes reports for interpreting provider as outlined in the department procedure guidelines. • Charts procedures, notes and chart reviews that are completed in the patient’s Electronic Health Record as needed. • Participates in performance improvement projects relating to Cardiovascular Ultrasound as well as helps to implement improvement parameters within the ultrasound labs to ensure ongoing quality improvement programs meet national and hospital standards. • Maintains annual requirements for Licensing/Certifications as well as any requirements necessary for annual review. • Works with Manager to maintain lab and hospital accreditation standards according to JCAHO, IAECL, IAEVL and ACC/AHA guidelines. • Maintains Hospital and Departmental focus of quality patient and customer care. • Maintains a clean lab and properly operating equipment. • Participates in regular preventive maintenance of equipment including purging and archiving as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Required walking, bending, stooping and lifting, repetitive motion and environment, Possibility of patient falls, patient codes, providing CPR as first responder.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: • This candidate must be a graduate of an accredited training program for Cardiovascular Ultrasound. • He/She must be registered or registry eligible upon hire through ARDMS or CCI in Adult Cardiac and/or Vascular Ultrasound. • This candidate must have at least two years of experience in the field of Cardiac and/or Vascular studies. • This candidate must have good public relations skills, be able to perform well under pressure and is able to take direction easily, must be able to work independently and demonstrate initiative as well as work well with others.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Must possess an intermediate knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, and Ultrasound Physics. • Basic computer skills are necessary. • Candidate must be able to perform Cardiovascular Ultrasound studies
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: • Candidate must have training from a CAAHEP or ABHES approved curriculum in the field of Cardiovascular Ultrasound Technology.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: • Current BCLS certificate is required upon hire. • Candidate must be registered in or registry eligible in Cardiac and/or Vascular Ultrasound and have registration in both Cardiac and Vascular technology within 1 year of hire.
