Pacific Diagnostic Laboratories, LLC (PDL) is a for-profit clinical laboratory established in response to the community’s need for a local, high quality clinical laboratory. PDL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital located in Santa Barbara, California. PDL’s goal is to provide the Tri-Counties area of Central California (which includes San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties) with the highest quality of laboratory services as well as an unmatched level of customer service.
PDL is in search of Clinical Laboratory Scientists to preform standard tests to obtain data used in diagnosis and treatments of patients. They will also perform both routine and specialized tests; provide work direction and instruction to students and trainees, non-licensed personnel, and new personnel. The CLS will also check tests performed for accuracy, reliability, and validity before results are reported from the laboratory. Highly experienced CLS’, will assist in the teaching of students and trainees.
CLS positions are currently available at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, Pacific Diagnostic Laboratory - Core Laboratory and Santa Ynez Cottage Hospital.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Certification: Medical Technologist (MT) certification, from American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is preferred.
Licensure: California State Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist
Technical Requirements: Functional experience with common laboratory analyzers and laboratory computer systems, including desktop computers.
General Job Duties:
Conduct accurate and timely testing of specimens. Maintain quality control of testing and test assessment. Complete required continuing education for licensure. Maintain own technical checklist. Take initiative for planning and completing professional development as it applies to laboratory goals, system goals, and personal/professional goals. Participate in cross-training for tests and/or analyzers to improve technical flexibility. Facilitate meeting laboratory goals and system goals by sharing information obtained through professional development activities. Demonstrate an understanding of the concepts of quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA). Monitor the appropriateness and acceptability of test results. Participate with CAP proficiency surveys. Follow guidelines necessary for regulatory compliance and participates in preparation for inspection by various accrediting agencies. Complete required competency evaluations. Attend and complete all mandatory continuing education in-services

PDL offers highly competitive pay and benefits (including medical, dental and 401(k)), Sign on Bonus of $3500.00, relocation and rental assistance, and up to $550.00 yearly in wellness reimbursement. Shift assignments vary depending on department and Salary is DOE.
