The Wm. Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center is actively recruiting a Registered Nurse - Interventional Radiology (RN-IR) for the Acute Service line. As a responsible member of the Acute hospital team the incumbent interacts with Veterans, family members and an interdisciplinary team of professionals.
The incumbent will provide pre-, intra- and post-procedural care, administer moderate sedation and analgesia in accordance with policy/procedure as well as patient/family education regarding pertinent procedures and disease processes in MRI, CT, US, Biopsy, IR and Nuclear Medicine. The RN-IR will be responsible for coordinating follow-up care, discharge instructions, review and preparation of patient charts for radiologic procedures.
In addition, the RN-IR provides diagnostic and evaluate for a variety of symptoms where a rule-out of a vascular disease is needed, e.g., leg and arm pain, poor peripheral pulses and assist in the performance of stent placement, G-tubes, nephrostomy tubes, drains, PICC lines, liver biopsy, lung biopsy, perm-a-cath, thoracentesis, paracentesis, anthrograms, steroid injections, myelograms and lumbar punctures. Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. The RN-IR is administratively responsible to the Nurse Manager. Performs other duties as required by the Nurse Manager.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, Flexible hours, may involve on call for weekends, nights and holidays. Tour of duty is subject to change based on agency needs.
