WORK TYPE: Full Time (.9 FTE) - 72 Hours Bi-Weekly; 40W Overtime

JOB SUMMARY:

In accordance with the standards of care established by the State Board of Nursing, a registered nurse is responsible for delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment,

planning, implementation and evaluation. A registered nurse also directs and guides patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the English language to effectively communicate with predominantly English-speaking population.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

For Registered Nurses with less than five (5) years work experience as an RN, a BSN degree is required or enrollment in a BSN program within 12 months of hire date with

BSN degree completed within 4 years of hire date is required.

For Registered Nurses with more than 5 years of work experience as an RN in an acute/inpatient capacity, a BSN degree is not required.

For current Geisinger Registered Nurses who transfer into this position, BSN degree is preferred.

Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license in good standing required.

Current BLS healthcare provider.

ACLS within one (1) year of date of hire. PRNs must have ACLS at date of hire.

Experience preferred; willing to train new graduates. PRN's must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience.

GEISINGER-COMMUNITY MEDICAL CENTER (G-CMC), Scranton, Pa., is an acute care hospital licensed for 297 beds and houses the only Level II Trauma Center in Lackawanna County and Scranton’s only neurosurgery program and adult in-patient behavioral health unit.
