The Security Officer will maintain a safe environment through patrol of the hospital, grounds and outlying buildings. He/She will respond to all calls both emergency and non-emergency as they occur or in order of importance. The Security Officer's core role is to promote a safe environment for patients, visitors and hospital employees.* Must possess a valid driver's license (must meet minimum criteria of Children's Minnesota Fleet Safety Management policy).* Must be able to successfully pass background checks of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and Department of Human Services (DHS).* Must be able to prepare verbal and written reports.* Good verbal, writing and computer skills required.* Must complete and pass use of force training within 30 days of hire.* Must complete and pass Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training within 90 days of hire.* Must be able to wear respiratory protection (N-95 respirator, full face respirator and PAPR), be fit tested and able to pass respirator physical.Education:* High school diploma or equivalent required.* Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Business, Psychology or Sociology preferred.Experience:* Prior experience responding and intervening in emergency situations such as crisis de-escalation, intervention, detainment of suspects, reporting and investigating incidents, and enforcing organizational policy preferred. * Prior Law Enforcement or security experience preferred.* Emergency Operations Center experience preferred. * Healthcare knowledge/experience preferred.
